Miss Lawrence, Bevy Smith and Derek J. Gay men and straight women. The relationship that we have can be at times an odd dance. One minute, we're the best of friends. Always there for each other. With ice cream and wine in hand. Ready to watch Waiting to Exhale, Begin Mary Jane or Will and Grace at a moment's notice. To her, we're the gay bff she's always wanted and needed. To us, she's the mother/sister friend that we can go to the club with and talk about boys with. For a moment. It's a perfect fit. Then suddenly something starts to shift. I don't know what exactly happens but the person that we thought of as a friend. Either they start to change or we change. Either way, things are never the same. It's hurtful, it's anger inducing and it's sad for everyone involved. At the start of the friendship. It was cool to gossip and "spill the tea" with each other while watching housewives or just chilling with one another. Then ...

For most of my life, I've been in love with love. However, I've come to realize that I'm not alone in this fact. Many of us both men and women are or have been at one point and time. In love in with the mistress called L.O.V.E. There comes a time when you stop begin in love with love and start getting real. Not just about love but why we're in love with the idea and fantasy of begin loved but not doing the work of loving someone from an unconditional, genuine place. Now, I'm not saying there's anything with begin in love with love because love is one of our purest emotions but if you always choose to have rose colored glasses on. It can and will cause a problem. Here's a few things that I've seen that contribute to our ongoing infatuation with love, 1. Society: Society as a whole plays a HUGE role in how we view relationships. Think about it for a moment. When you look back on say, your childhood. What kind of love did your parents have with e...

That one time...revelations of a lifetime. by Leo Brown. Gay men who are known as trade. I had just gotten back from one of my favorite places in the world. Las Vegas. I don't know what it is about sin city but it resonates with me and I it. I absolutely love it! Everything down to the weather and homeless guys on the street. Even they sparkle to me despite begin covered in dirt. I had gone there to celebrate my turning 34 a week early. I wanted to bring in my 34th year with a bang and I got exactly what I asked for. Before making this trip. I had been talking with a guy named Delroy. (Not his real name.) I met him on a telephone chat site and when we met. It was at least for me a very magickal experience. I thought “Finally, I've found someone who understood me.” We had been talking for over 14 months and it was nice to be desired and thought of. As he and I would talk everyday for sometimes hours about everything from marriage, living together and even the poss...

Informative, empowering and inspiring are just some of the words that describe the hit radio show Sundays with Rolanda. That airs on cbs radio. With topics ranging from diversity in television to psychics. This show has everything that you could want, need and more!! The show is hosted by the witty, warm southern belle with a heart of gold. Actress and former talk show hostess Rolonda Watts. I first discovered this show due to a bout I was having with insomnia. Since then, this show has become a sunday treat for me or whenever I want to be in the know or how to enrich myself in ways to grow both inside and out. One of the things that I absolutely love about this show is that it doesn't feel like a show. Rolonda makes you feel as if you've been invited by her personally to her home for talk, tea and crumpets. So warm, friendly and welcoming. As you sit down the conversation just starts to flow and before you know it. You've not only made a friend but you've l...

It happen again. I misread the signs; no, I saw what I wanted to see and heard what I wanted to hear. Contrary to popular opinion, just because you have the sight doesn't mean that you're dating life or the person you're dating shines bright like a diamond. Hell, in most cases you can't see shit. I am no exception to this rule. We've all done it. Met someone, felt a “deep connection” say you're going to take things slow but in your head you're already picking out china and making the seating arrangements for the wedding of all weddings that is going to take place in two years max. In my dating/love life. I always attracted men who looked the part (or I convinced myself they were fine but that's for another post.) said the right things but once I got past all that. Turns out they weren't shit, didn't have shit and didn't want shit. In other words emotionally or physically unavailable. Sure, they wanted to fuck but that was it; and...
Star Readings: Trina Braxton and Gabe Solis.

Now, this star reading is interesting because Trina Braxton and Gabe Solis are complete opposites in some ways but in others they work well together. Hence their collaboration on their business bar chix. Gabe has a life path number of five. Five people desire constant change and are bored easily. (His cheating was because of boredom and more of a thrill than anything.) Also people who have five as their life path number like Gabe tend to be scared to take risks and are anxious at times when it comes to the future. Gabe is a thinker so believe me, he's replayed the often reckless things he's done during his marriage to Trina at least a half a dozen times in his head. Which is why now it appears that he's made a change of heart and wants to work on their relationship. Also, he's afraid of losing her. I couldn't find Gabe's birth date which was quite a bummer to say the least. With Gabe having the number five as his life path number. The thought of begin tie...

Tomorrow the great holiday known as Valentine's Day will make its presence known. When we think of Valentine's Day images of cards and thoughts of romance and passion play with our minds and bodies, along with the heart-shaped chocolates that take hold of us and never let go. What about Valentine's Day before it became the commercial holiday that is today? Why not go back to the beginnings of this scared holy day. That has been in our culture longer than we realize. When in Rome. The day of that we know as Valentine's Day started as an roman festival to honor the goddess of marriage Juno. During this time the people of rome were separated. The people started the custom of writing the names of who they were interested in the day before the festival took place. The person's names were written on pieces of paper and inserted into jars. Each person then drew a name from the jar and they were then paired up with their mate throughout the festival. After...

Hey Cubbers! How are you? I hope well. The subject that I'm about to write about is something that I've been going back and forth with in my head for awhile. It's my goal to help you become empowered. With empowerment comes vulnerability. So I'm going to talk about a period in my life where I was young, dumb and a bad judge of character. (Hey, it happens to everyone.) I'm going to talk about a man who not until recently made me do some inner work within myself. Which lead me to confront my demons. I'm not going to mention his name. I will mention the lessons that I learned and what my experience with him taught me. So here goes. The person that graced himself into my life was a man I'll call Lex. I met him through my best friend with whom he worked with. Okay, this guy is cuter but I just wanted to give you guys a visual. The first time I met Lex I'll admit I thought he was cute. Kinda like Jack Black but better looking with pierci...
Stop Comparing and Start Doing! a.k.a Single and Fabulous!

Single: For many of us (not all) this word brings the feeling of begin alone or left behind. Having to be on the same playing field as our friends or other counterparts. Why? I believe this for two reasons: 1. Society- Believe it or not society plays a HUGE role on the way we think, look or even believe in ourselves. Sad but very, very true. 2. Comparing- From the age of puberty and beyond we start comparing our experience to other's experiences. Now, this can be a double edged sword for many of us. Because on one hand sometimes comparing our experience to someone can motivate and for some inspire us to regroup and refocus on the goals we want to see to completion. The bad thing about this is that when we start comparing our life experience to someone else, we start to limit our potential. Well, today I say that it is high time we stop comparing and start doing! We are single and fabulous! My two best friends along with a handful of others are either married, gettin...

Good Afternoon Cubbers Happy Monday! Last night as I was watching Oprah Winfrey interview Tina Turner I had a lot of "light bulb moments" especially when her husband came into the interview and he said that he saw/sees tina as just tina. It didn't matter that she was older, black, white none of that mattered to him. He said that he looked at their connection. Which made me realize that when it comes to love or relationships we often become entranced with the idea of "love" You know, what I'm talking about don't you? The romance, the sweet nothing's, the sex, the "we have everything in common phase." Instead of looking or holding on to that, how about trying to actually connect with someone? When you look for a connection and you find it, the list of requirements fall into the background. It doesn't matter if you're short or that he's not rich. What matters is that you both have found each other and your both willing, ready and ...

Dating sucks or does it? What many of us don't understand or learn until much later in life is that the we allow people to treat us the way we should be treated. This lesson has reared it's head a lot in my life especially when it comes to dating and relationships. I found myself asking countless times, am I dating a king or a fool? Now, many of you may be asking what's the difference between the two? How do I know if I'm dating one? Well, I'm here to help. Hopefully by reading this, you'll seek someone who is fit to sit with you on your throne. The Fool: Ah, the fool. full of life, energy, possibility and wide-eyed wonder. What's wrong with this picture you ask? Nothing if you enjoy spontaneity which you'll get plenty of at the start of things. Now, at the start of things I say enjoy it. Have fun with it. However, if you're looking for something long-term you might wanna move on from the fool. Signs you're dating a fool Talk that...
